The patriotic sentiment precipitated by a grape
From a tender seed to a bunch of heavy grapes, from an ordinary wine company to today's wine kingdom. A grape embodies a company's "Chinese Dream". In August 2020, the team members of Gangcheng Primary School in Zhifu District, Yantai City walked into the Changyu Liquor Culture Museum to explore the footprints of patriotic spirit.
Traveling through time and space, tracing the patriotic heart
How did this "grape" take root and sprout in Yantai? Before the official visit, the counselor teacher used the internet to introduce the historical background of the establishment of Changyu Company to the team members. Changyu Company was founded in 1892, and at that time, China was being divided and eroded by imperial powers. At the age of 51, Zhang Bishi returned to China from Nanyang to establish an industry and named it "Changyu", symbolizing prosperity and prosperity. But the road to saving the country through industry is not smooth sailing, where do the raw materials for brewing come from? How to solve the problem of planting technology and funding? The team members explored the history of Changyu over a hundred years ago by consulting materials and formed a small team to conduct research.
In the Comprehensive Hall and History Hall, the team members gained a better understanding of the history created by Chang Yu. Their founder, Mr. Zhang Bishi, was deeply inspired by his perseverance in finding grape varieties suitable for cultivation in Yantai. "It's amazing to have tried so many methods from importing grapes from Austria to wild grapes in Yantai, and finally successfully planted the two grapes through grafting!" said the team member excitedly.
Traveling through a hundred years of history and gaining a glimpse of the mysterious veil of Changyu Company, the team members gained a deeper understanding of Zhang Bishi's patriotic journey through the collision of new gains. This patriotic seed also quietly sprouted in the hearts of the team members.
Reviewing development and feeling the power of the country
During the visit, the team members also embarked on a treasure hunting journey by combining the information they consulted with the development history of "Changyu". The team members found that the current development of "Changyu" is closely related to the support of the country. Let's listen to the treasure hunting stories of the team members together.
Story 1: "Quality of Liquan"
In front of the relief in the comprehensive hall, the team members immediately recognized Mr. Sun Yat sen, the "Father of the Nation", and "Li Quan is of great quality". Several team members reached out their small hands and pointed to the inscription on the relief, reciting it softly. "Teacher, do you know the meaning of this sentence? It means that Changyu's wine is particularly delicious, like sweet spring water!" A team member whispered in my ear. "Sweet dew falls from the sky, and from the earth comes Li Quan." Mr. Sun Yat sen quoted this sentence from "The Book of Rites", not only affirming the excellent quality of Chang Yu's products, but also having a patriotic story behind it:
While Changyu Company's wine was being sold around the world, the Qing government was already on the verge of collapse. In order to support Mr. Sun Yat sen's Xinhai Revolution, Mr. Zhang Bishi donated 300000 taels of silver. After the victory of the Xinhai Revolution, Mr. Sun Yat sen passed by Yantai and wrote an inscription for "Chang Yu", praising Mr. Zhang Bishi's patriotism and acknowledging the excellent quality of Chang Yu's products. "Originally, not only is the wine of 'Chang Yu' precious, but Mr. Zhang Bishi's patriotism is even more precious!" After listening to the explanation, the team members had a deeper understanding of 'Chang Yu''s patriotic spirit. They consciously stood in line, paying tribute to the relief sculpture that records patriotic stories, and paying the highest respect to the patriotic martyrs who saved the country and revitalized the country a hundred years ago.
Story 2: "Why can't a cup of wine be brewed by oneself?"
From the origin of grape names to the distinctive grape varieties such as "Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Sauvignon," during the treasure hunt, team members deeply felt the profound cultural heritage of China and the powerful power of national spirit. But the brewing journey of "Changyu" was not smooth sailing. A team member mentioned the patriotic story he researched. In the 1930s, heavy taxes and levies, coupled with a major fire in 1931, led to the bankruptcy of Changyu Company. At that time, Xu Wangzhi, the president of the Yantai branch of the Bank of China, was indignant that the brewing technology had always been controlled by foreigners. "Why can't we brew our own wine after drinking a cup of wine?" He believed that as a patriotic enterprise, Changyu Company should not go bankrupt. Therefore, injecting a large amount of funds and advanced technical talents, and even voluntarily providing travel expenses to winemakers, was the only way for Changyu Company to come back to life. The team members also found an advertisement shot by "Chang Yu" in the history hall after he regained his composure. Through the smooth glass, the young faces of the team members were reflected on the exhibits, as if looking back at history and feeling the powerful power of the country.
Story 3: Underground Wine Cellar
Arriving at the underground wine cellar of Changyu Company, the team members were immediately attracted by the large and small oak barrels here. This underground wine cellar has a history of a hundred years. To solve the serious water seepage problem, it was renovated three times, and the final material selected was still Chinese fired large blue bricks. The team members proudly said, "Our Chinese bluestone is even more powerful than steel bars and iron beams!" And in this century old wine cellar, there are three hundred year old oak barrels stored, known as the "Asian Barrel King." The team members wrote their wishes on the red silk of the oak barrels, expressing their willingness to continuously study hard and add glory to the motherland. From Chinese green bricks to Chinese wine, "Made in China" has become a shining business card of "Changyu". Through continuous treasure hunting and exploration, it has inspired team members to realize the "Chinese Dream", and this patriotic seed continues to grow and grow!
Imagining the future and responding to the call of the motherland
Since the establishment of the People's Republic of China, under the leadership of the Party and state leaders, "Changyu" has also entered a new era. The team members arrived at the Modern Hall, where they introduced the current development status of "Changyu" and the care of party and state leaders for "Changyu". From Chairman Mao's proposal to vigorously develop grape and wine production and encourage people to drink more wine, to Premier Zhou's personal allocation of special funds to improve the quality of famous wines to Changyu Company, all demonstrate the country's emphasis on patriotic enterprises.
When he saw the sand table model, a team member was extremely excited. It turned out that when he looked up information, he found that since 2013, "Changyu" has successively acquired wineries in France, Chile, Spain and other places, allowing "Changyu" wine to go global. The sand table in front of him is the model of foreign wineries.
The counselor calls on team members to learn the spirit of Chang Yu, listen to the Party's words and follow the Party from a young age. The team members also lively discussed how we can make the world feel the power of China and how we can achieve our own Chinese dream. Some team members want to become astronauts and contribute their efforts to the country's aerospace industry; Some team members want to become athletes and bring glory to their country at the Olympics; Some team members also want to create a unique "Chinese brand" like Zhang Bishi.
A grape seed is very small, but it can produce crystal clear fruits. Although an event may be small, it can deeply instill patriotism in the hearts of team members. Cultivate a love for the Party, the motherland, and the people from a young age. I believe that these energetic team members can also grow strong and fruitful like grapes.
